Disaster Services Volunteers - Contact Jennifer Wilson to become a Disaster Volunteer and sign up for Disaster Training Courses

• Disaster Action Team (DAT)

  • WANT to have a pager and respond to fires

  • House Fires = number one disaster in the United States

  • More than 70,000 disasters occur every year in the United States

  • Give comfort to victims of local house fires/emergencies in your community

• Disaster Services Human Resources (DSHR)

  • WANT to Deploy?

  • Lend your special skills and talents to help victims of disasters locally and around the country.

• Disaster Instructors

  • Receive training and become a member of DSHR to be able teach other volunteers basic Disaster Courses

• Disaster Presenters

  • Educate the community on Disaster Preparedness

Health & Safety Volunteers - Contact Jennifer Wilson

• Health & Safety Presenters

  • Basic First Aid, Water Safety, HIV Prevention, Babysitter's Training

• Health & Safety Instructors (CPR & First Aid) – (compensation available)

• Swim Instructors (year around) – (compensation available)

Volunteer opportunities/ times needed:

• Office Volunteers needed M-Th 8:00-4:30, F 9-1

• Community Event & Fundraising Volunteers- Weekdays, nights and Saturdays

• Disaster Action Team Members for evening pager rotation in responding to home fires, etc.

• Health & Safety Presenters for schools/programs

• Blood Drive Registration/Canteen Volunteers

Financial needs:

• Scholarships for Swim Participants

• Scholarships for CPR Training Participants

• HEROES CAMPAIGN Teams from community organizations/businesses can pledge to raise money at a Bronze, Silver or Gold Level from February through June each year.

• Red Cross is always looking for those that have benefitted from our services and therefore want to pledge to give on an annual basis.

In-kind support needed:

• The Calloway County Chapter of the American Red Cross has thrived for 94 years without a building of our own. We currently rent a space in the Weaks Community Center. Most Red Cross Chapters have donated buildings.

• Other needs are various disaster relief personal items.
